This section of the website will give you a little informaton about 4x4WorlD and it's creator..

4x4WorlD is a website dedicated to all things 4x4 or 4WD related.

Firstly, let me welcome you. My name is Simon, and I own 4x4WorlD. I'm a 34 year old Australian who's lived out of Australia since 1999, but will be returning soon, and I've owned and operated 4x4's all across the world and on some of the harshest roads known to man kind.

Some of my previous 4x4's can be found in the Gallery section, others are pictures of the same model that I owned as the pictures are no longer available, or perhaps were never taken, I am still adding these pictures though, so keep checking for more additions.

I began 4x4WorlD in early 2008 after trying to make many modifications to my 4x4 whilst living in the UK. Details on those modifications are available in the appropriate thread in our forum, but they include things like a 2.8 TDI engine conversion (petrol to diesel) and much more. Please feel free to have a look.

Anyway, I realised that if you wanted a particular part for a 4x4 you had to go out and find it specifically because most mechanics didn't know either what you were talking about, or they didn't have time to find it, or didn't know where to look, or perhaps just didn't care. Or alternatively, you had to manufacture the part you wanted...

So I began thinking about it. Yes, Google is a great help when you wan't to find things, absolutely brilliant. So I thought to my self, ~wouldn't it be great if there was a Google for specific subjects?~ After that I was set on my current course.

I decided that it was time the world had a 4x4 related search site full of all of the best 4x4 Resources available online.

I registered my new domain and set to work right away. I began gathering links (which I had been doing since the onset of work on my truck in mid 2007) and adding them to my collection so that I could use them.

I got my hosting set up and then started work on the website. I had a temporary site up for a few weeks while visitors came by, I found that it was difficult to add the URLs and descriptions for the websites purely by using html alone. I needed software to assist. So I found the software which drives the Search section of the site and set it up. I then began by adding a few links. While this was time consuming it was no where near as bad as just HTML editing.

4x4WorlD as a site currently as I'm writing this has approximately 200+ 4x4 Resource links listed in our search section. As such it's quite formiddable and that makes us probably the largest '4x4 DEDICATED' search site in the world! Our database includes 4x4 parts and accessories suppliers, 4x4 mechanics, and 4x4 clubs across the globe.

Now what I need is for YOU the public, the 4x4 ENTHUSIAST to jump on board. I would like to ask for you to submit your OWN 4x4 links from your browser bookmarks! Whether these are for the people who supply your tyres, or your snorkel, or diff locks, or if they are for your mechanic or your local 4x4 Club. Please submit them to us so that everyone can see them and use them.

All you have to do is click on the 4x4 links button on the left of this page, then when that loads up go to ADD A RESOURCE. Then add the required information for the site you wish to submit. [If you don't have all of the information that is fine, simply put in the URL (don't forget the http://), the site name, and fill in all the other required boxes with webmaster@4x4world.org and that will prompt me to do the research for the rest.]

4x4WorlD is a privately owned resource which is paid for soley by the owner. However if you would like to assist by making donations we will shortly offer that option.

4x4WorlD will in the near future offer paid subscription advertising on our front page for a select few of our Resources on a first come, first served basis. Get ready for the announcement!
